The Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) of Liberia wishes to convey to the global AML/CFT Community the decision of GIABA Forum of FIUs to re-elect the Director General, Stanley S. Ford as the President of the Forum of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) of the GIABA Member States (FFIU-GMS) for another year. This decision is unprecedented in the history of the forum to get a country to retain the Presidency for two consecutive tenures. This is a testament to Director General Ford’s outstanding leadership and dedication to the global fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
The FFIU-GMS serves as an essential platform for regional partnership among West African Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) in the concerted effort to combat money laundering and its predicate offenses, terrorism financing, and proliferation. It operates under the vision of providing an efficient and effective framework for collaboration among FIUs in the West African region, aiming to strengthen their capacities and promote technical compliance in the implementation of anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) measures.
Director General Stanley S. Ford’s re-election to this esteemed position is a tremendous honor and a recognition of Liberia’s leading role in the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing.
